LOVE was another great band from the 60's and of course VERY Doors related.
I think it would be great to have this special topic about the band who was such a big example for The Doors.
I recieved a copy on DVD last Friday of the new LOVE STORY Docu made in the UK by START Productions. It has been shown at the LONDON FILM FESTIVAL last month and now the makers are in talks with people to get the the Docu official released.
It's a very good Docu about Arthur Lee & LOVE and we also get to see John Densmore and Bruce Botnick talking about Arthur.
I was surprised to see Jeff Jampol's name at the credit at the end of the movie.I guess he will also be surprised when Jeff sees MY name also at the credits!
Good thing for me is that he can't ban my name from the movie like they did with my website and this forum at the Lizard Lounge!!
Anyway, I think you guys should all see this film.I'll post again about it when it will be released.

Only my website is banned because it is bootleg-related.
The Forum was banned because people were arguing about things that were said here and taken over to the LL. And since the LL can't handle the truth they decided to ban it all.
But as a person I still can post there, although I think I am too old for the LL.Isn't the max. age for registering on the LL 14?
Very cool. I've been looking forward to the Love doc. The current owners of The Castle (famous house where the band lived in the 60's) let Lee tour the place shortly before he got sick. That footage is supposed to be in the film.
Is this DVD available yet? I really want to get it.
Watching the stars till they're gone,
like an actor all alone,
who never knew the story he was in,
who never knew the story ends.
Like the sky reflecting my heart,
all the colors become visible.
When the morning begins... I'll read the last line.

Does Arthur comment on Jim Morrison?
I remember when I met Arthur after a gig in 93', I asked him about Jim Morrison, and the Doors as a whole-
he scowled and said 'that man stole my girl, my act, and my fame'.
He was pretty bitter the Doors became giants and Love remained an underground favorite- but Arthur had only himself to blame- the Doors would travel and play any shithole club-anywhere-But Arthur just wouldn't leave LA...
Love was even invited to play at the montery Pop Festival in 67- That would have MADE Arthur's career- but he declined the invite...

I have a copy of the LOVE Story DVD but it's been a while since I saw it.But I don't recall Arthur mentioning Jim.
I was a pitty that LOVE never did manny gig's outside LA.Arthur's idea was that they were an LA Band and if people wanted to see LOVE they should come to LA.I heard that Pam was with Arthur first. And true also is that Jim Morrison copied some things from Arthur, even getting a Dog!
There's an excellent book about Love entitled "Behind the Scenes on the Pegasus Carousel." It was wriiten by Michael Stuart-Ware, who was their drummer for Da Capo and Forever Changes. He was also a member of the Sons of Adam, who do a killer version of Arthur's "Feathered Fish". There's a great story about Jim in the book, which I posted on the LL a while back.
The DVD release of Love Story is finally on the way.
The UK release will be on June 9th and the US release will be July 29th.
The DVD will be accompanied by an 8-page leaflet, which will include liner notes from Bobby Gillespie from Primal Scream and there might be a limited edition postcard set with the first couple of thousand DVD's.
Thanks for the info. I'm really looking forward to this DVD!
"On the North American DVD release, a whole hour of bonus material has been tacked on, including additional interview footage with Lee and Echols, live performances and liner notes penned by Gillespie."
