"Speedy Keen was Pete Townshend's chauffeur in the mid-60s, and was also a drummer and songwriter. Pete decided to bankroll and produce an album for him, and recruited Jimmy McCullough on guitar and Andy Newman on piano. With Pete playing bass (as 'Bijou Drains') they made an album, and released one track as a single. The result, Something In The Air by Thunderclap Newman, was one of the best - and most distinctive - English singles of the late 60s.

A fantastic single it was. I think that was when individual members of the Who were encouraged to try to develop and nuture other acts for Track Records with the promise of more $$$ if they succeeded. I guess it didn't quite work out too well for them though. I would be interested in there is anything available on Keith Moon's favourite's, the Bonzo Doo Dah Dog Band.
"Something In The Air" was developed roughly at the same time as 'Tommy' during Pete's most spiritual and intellectual creative period. From late '68 through '72 the Who was probably the best recording and touring band.
