RIP Scott Weiland
I'm actually surprised this guy made it as long as he did. His battle with addiction over the years has become pretty well known. With that being said, I loved his work with STP and I thought he was one of the better performers on the VH-1 Doors Storytellers show. I always wondered why Ray and Robby picked Ian Astbury over Scott when they decided to go on tour back in late 2002. We asked Robby that very question back in 2003 backstage at one of their concerts. Robby was pretty candid saying he also thought Scott did a good job on Storytellers but he had too many demons. One thing I didn't know, that Robby pointed out, was that Scott was actually reading the lyrics off a teleprompter during that VH-1 performance.

Yeah, just heard the news. I must admit I only know his name from the Storyteller thing. Nice insights, Greg. I guess Ray and Robby had their part with Jim and prefered calmer guy for their older days.

I always get a kick out of Scott's mic 'Check' before Five To One when John jumps in and starts talking to Robby..
